This is an ok anime series but not as great as the video game. I’ve seen some of the episodes and it has good action. The plot is kinda slow in a way. Sure the blu-ray animation and sound is fantastic but I have a feeling this should be a rental(rent from Blockbuster or [...]).

This is a pretty good anime. While the store is not that well done, the action scenes are pretty great. The overall quality of the bluray is also decent. The quality could have been a lot better. Sound is good but not perfect. I would recommend buying this only if your a fan of action anime and don’t care too much about plot and character development because those aren’t that well done in this anime.
The special features are basically devil may cry cut-scenes and music videos from the new game. Theres one directors video and another music video from the anime. I don’t see any reason for buying this if you already own the anime on Dvd.

This series is beautiful and the action is superb and fluid. I enjoyed watching Dante’s antics and his interaction with the other main characters (Trish and Lady, yay!). Even the little girl Patty wasn’t as obnoxious as she could have been. My problem was with all the one-time throw-away plots and characters.
You don’t care about them, you never see them again past their one episode, but that’s what the majority of this show is – following the devil-related drama of insignificant people as Dante jumps from one mission to the next. I understand this is Dante’s job, and I wouldn’t have minded a few episodes of this (I even enjoyed some of them!), but it took so long for the real story to develop, I thought this was going to be more like a collection of short-stories than a cohesive whole.
Another thing, Dante is never in any danger (ALMOST never – I won’t give away the ending)! I’ve played the games, I know he is nearly indestructible, but when there’s never any doubt that he can humiliate the baddies, there’s absolutely no tension!
I also would have liked to see some sort of development involving the main characters. This isn’t a game with the player drumming their fingers through lengthy cut-scenes, this is a full-length show. I know, I know, the campy and over-the-top DMC franchise should be the last place to look for a significant story – BUT – if this series was only supposed to be about the beautiful action, then every episode wouldn’t have been bogged down with the stories of forgettable, unimportant characters.
Dante is the one we care about! Would it have hurt for the show to be more about him? Or Trish! Or Lady! But no, our cute little devil-hunters are just along for the ride . . .

I really like the Devil May Cry 1 & 3 PS2 games. I especially like the puppets, bosses and environments. As I never saw the series, I was hoping that the series would be similar to the games. I’ve watched 2 episodes so far. The series looks to be just an ordinary monster Japanese Anime. No puppets, black cats, spiders, … I’ve also found that Blu Ray doesn’t really enhance animation. I have other Japanese animation DVDs and they look just as good. But the price was cheap and I took a chance.

Great series, a little slow to begin but most anime is that way. Some really awesome animation, very detailed and the blu ray quality is top notch. There is definitely an underlying plot that kept my interest throughout. Although not much of this plot is revealed, I was completely entertained and watched the whole thing in a day or two. Can’t wait for more!
