  1. I got an extra-special warm hug from my kid for having bought this game. I do not intend to play, nor would I review the quality of the game, simply because I think Nintendo DS is solely meant for kids 10 and under.

I bought this for 2 children over the holidays (ages 10). They thought it was great! I loved the fact that this video stimulates creativity. They create their own character! My teen son was even asking for a turn to play it!

Drawn to Life 2 is a fun, but very quick and easy platformer. The average gamer could probably beat this game in under a day or so. There is very little challenge other than a few side quests that may make you go through a level one or two times, but it’s nothing hair-pulling frustrating; thus, an expert gamer would easily find themselves bored with this game.

The real fun is in getting to draw objects and items for the game itself, however, if you do not enjoy drawing or are artistically challenged, I recommend renting, borrowing, or staying away from this game as you will easily be annoyed by being asked to draw things. If you enjoy drawing or have a good imagination, this game is a lot of fun because of going around levels and going “hey wait, that thing there was drawn by me!”.

I would like to also warn that the story will not make sense if you have not played the first game of the series. The game makes no attempt to fill in new players as to who the characters are and anything that happened in the first game.

In addition, I was very disappointed in the ending. It was very sad and I felt that it came out of nowhere. I feel that younger kids who play this game will not understand or make the connections as of what the ending is implying, and parents may end up getting questions with answers kids aren’t ready to hear.

    Overall

    Pros:

It is a fun, easy game for the creative, children, or casual gamers who have played the first Drawn to Life game.

    Cons:

It is very short and many gamers will find this game with very little challenge. If you are not an artistic person, this game makes a very average platformer that is not worth buying at full price. In addition, you will not understand the storyline if you have not played the first Drawn to Life game.

  4. This was a gift for my eight-year-old son; part his choice, part my decision to try getting him into video games that make him think a bit past where to shoot the next gun. We’re both happy with the resolution! He plays this all the time on his DS now, mostly ignoring the rest of his games. I’m sure the novelty will eventually wear off, but enjoying the change of pace for now!

This is a little easier than WII version for the drawing part, but 10 year old likes the WII version better.
